SMART Department Level Objectives

OBJECTIVE 1: OVERHAUL WEBSITE TO CREATE A MORE USER FRIENDLY PLATFORM

The change of the county website would take a lot of work, but when creating a more user friendly website, the Health Department could appeal to a larger audience and help commit to more responsive and effective services. This is easily measured because websites can tell you the number of clicks they are receiving every day and that can be compared to prior years.

OBJECTIVE 2: CREATE E-FORMS FOR PUBLIC USE

In the new website I would want to integrate a page dedicated specifically to e-forms. These forms could be filled and submitted online, they would go into an email that would be checked multiple times per day by assigned staff and paid for via an online payment service. This would help residents that are in need of permits, able to apply for them outside of normal business hours, which is when most people have time to do such thing. This is easily measured by recording how many e-forms are delivered to the inbox and the timestamp that they were delivered at to see if we are meeting the needs of the public.

OBJECTIVE 3: ADD A NEW APPOINTMENT CALENDAR FOR BOOKING APPOINTMENTS ONLINE

This could also be its own page on the new website or could be constructed within the patient portal that the Health Department set as one of their goals to add before 2020. Think of this being similar to the Secretary of State adding an online feature for appointments. The client gets to choose an available time that works with their schedule, allowing the submission of that appointment booking being far enough in advance for the employees to gather data they need to complete the appointment, ie: immunization or historical health records. This is completely measurable by the amount of utilization it is getting, eventually it would be great to have all people schedule appointments using the same method.
